The National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest (NUSTPB) is the largest academic community in Romania with over 40,000 students and 1700 academic and research staff. It is known for its strong emphasis on engineering, technology, and scientific disciplines. Founded in 1818, it has a long-standing tradition in the field of engineering education and is one of the largest and oldest technical universities in the country.
Every day, we demonstrate that reaching our goals, the satisfaction of a job well done, and the achievement of excellence are only possible when everyone around us is provided with the right context to maximize their capabilities and contribute. These beliefs are encapsulated in the four core values of our university: creativity, integrity, respect, and diversity. Moreover, these values are supported by what POLITEHNICA Bucharest consistently does to remain an inclusive and attractive environment for recruiting, motivating, and retaining top talent, as well as being a social role model.
Through creativity, we foster innovation and free thinking, giving students and faculty the tools they need to explore new frontiers of knowledge. Integrity guides all our actions, ensuring we uphold the highest ethical standards in education and research. Respect for all members of our community motivates us to create an environment where every voice is heard and valued. Diversity, as the cornerstone of our excellence, allows us to embrace and celebrate differences, thereby creating a vibrant and dynamic learning space.
These foundational values are reinforced by POLITEHNICA Bucharest's commitment to being a leading institution that not only attracts but also motivates and retains remarkable talents, playing an active role in society. By adhering to these principles, we ensure that our university continues to be a place where academic excellence and innovation are the norms, in an environment that promotes equal opportunities and personal development for all its members.
The official launch of the Romanian Diversity Charter took place on April 18, 2018, making Romania the 21st country in the European Union to adopt a Diversity Charter and join the European Diversity Platform. Currently, the Charter has gathered 235 signatories, representing approximately 300,000 employees from companies, public institutions, and NGOs. These signatories have publicly committed to upholding the principles of the Charter, aiming to make diversity, equal opportunities, and social inclusion recognized and respected values in Romania. Under the guidance of the Charter, numerous initiatives have been implemented, including experience exchanges, workshops, debates, and learning and mentorship programs. Since 2021, the Charter and its signatories have jointly celebrated the EU Diversity Month, which aims to promote diversity in the workplace and society as a whole.
