“At BAT DBS Romania Hub, we are enablers in driving business solutions, by partnering with Global BAT in A Better Tomorrow strategy delivery. Here, diversity thrivers and innovation leads in a modern, inclusive and sustainable workplace. In DBS, our people can make an impact on a global scale. Our workplace is a melting pot of cultures, nationalities, languages, and religions. Every day we engage with a rich tapestry of perspectives, fostering a truly global mindset. In DBS Romania, we work in a very diverse environment with more than 70% women, speaking more than 20 languages and coming from more than 25 different nationalities. All in all, we are proud for having cultivated a workspace that promotes equity between people, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, race, or disability status.”

Merve Mutlu, Head of HR DBS Romania Hub & Global HRBP, added:

“In cultivating an inclusive environment, we prioritize celebrating diversity, by fostering a strong sense of belonging. It is imperative to ensure that our leadership reflects the diversity of our people. What is more, as many researchers suggested, innovation is more likely to come from a group of people with diverse knowledge foundation. By increasing the diversity in our teams, we are bringing different perspectives to the forefront, which allows us to challenge ways of thinking and ways of working.

In 2024, our focus is even more centered on Diversity and Inclusion topics. We have meticulously designed a D&I calendar, outlining key global-wide campaigns that we are eagerly anticipating. Having this said, we are more than thrilled to have signed the Romanian Diversity Charter at the starting point of three full days of internal events dedicated to Diversity and Inclusion topics.

We are BAT and together we are making a safe space which stands out as a culture of safety, acceptance, and inclusion.”

About the Romanian Diversity Charter

The official launch of the Romanian Diversity Charter took place on April 18, 2018, making Romania the 21st country in the European Union to adopt a Diversity Charter and join the European Diversity Platform. Currently, the Charter has gathered 242 signatories, representing approximately 312,000 employees from companies, public institutions, and NGOs. These signatories have publicly committed to upholding the principles of the Charter, aiming to make diversity, equal opportunities, and social inclusion recognized and respected values in Romania. Under the guidance of the Charter, numerous initiatives have been implemented, including experience exchanges, workshops, debates, and learning and mentorship programs. Since 2021, the Charter and its signatories have jointly celebrated the EU Diversity Month, which aims to promote diversity in the workplace and society as a whole.
